This, to me, if Nigeria ever wishes to change either its National Anthem or Pledge is an absolute alternative. It's duodecet poetic form is outstanding. It's a very revolutionary piece in the realm of music forms. Afro-Ambient genre is a very rare occurrence in Nigeria's sphere of music. And the vocal aura with which she sang it transcends a vaulting array of emotions. A rather adventurous and harmonious romance with the Ambient genre.
I think this extraordinary effort was a deliberate attempt. To showcase Nigeria as a very different yet rare nation capable of reaching a remarkable height. The song can pass for a conversation between Nigeria and herself. Personifying Nigeria. 'Herself' could be any Nigerian, or well wisher. An impassioned hopeless-patriotic that wishes to give her nation every light she has in her. Every iota of strength, knowledge, sacrifice and love.
When your hope in Nigeria starts to dwindle, this is the song to listen to. Many songs have been sung about Nigeria, some of them inspiring and others disdainful. Scarcely do we find a song with so much spirit and truth.
She attempts at renewing and further igniting the light of Nigerians to be hopeful with utmost faith in the fate of the nation. Hope being a very strong pillar to faith. That beam of hope that will ignite our light 'to serve Nigeria with all my strength, to defend her unity, And uphold her honor and glory,'
So in the song 'Share; A Song to Nigeria at 100', the singer and song writer; onarii, takes us through a journey of her selfless dogged optimism. One she is convinced that if imbibed by Nigeria's over one hundred fifty million denizens can outightly move the nation to the state our founding father's dreamt.
That rainbow of hope that will make sure 'the labor of our heroes past shall never be in vain.' The optimism that will entrench us 'to serve with heart and might' to build 'one nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.' 'A nation where peace and justice shall reign.'
What if this is the mindset of every Nigerian, won't we have a great nation? I'm sure we will. What Nigeria becomes is entirely up to us. We can defeat the oppositions that will for our extinction or we can fight to glory. We must decide what we want for our nation.
To achieve this glory, we should let our lights shine beyond ethnic idiosyncrasies, religious sentiments, color pigmentations, language barriers, and political affiliations. So that the darkness in which our nation seemingly plunges into will be gone forever.
